Congratulations to our 2014 grantees!
Congratulations again to our 2014 grantees! We celebrated the Lunar New Year last Thursday with our grantees and got to learn some more about their fantastic organizations!
Jacinta Ma told us why she joined the board of the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center (APALRC), including their important work with residents in low-income housing in Chinatown and with women who have been trafficked.
Next, Jane Pan reminded us that, even though Hepatitis B is both preventable and treatable, too many Asian Pacific Americans–about 1 in 12–live with it. Her organization, the Hepatitis B Initiative of Washington DC, offers education, screening, and vaccines. Be sure to check our their 5th Annual Benefit Gala & Award Dinner on May 31 at the China Garden Restaurant in Rosslyn!
Finally, Tuan Duong told us that Mid- Atlantic Union of Vietnamese Student Associations (MAUVSA) helps develop student leaders at 9 mid-Atlantic colleges and universities and provides them a forum to learn from and support one another. MAUVSA’s upcoming conference also provides students an opportunity to attend workshops and network with alumni in various fields.
