How do I join?
Donate any amount to become a member of our giving circle and to join in our activities! If you donate $250 or more, you are eligible to vote in our annual selection of grantees. Please see our page on joining for information on how to donate.
Can I donate less than $250 to the giving circle?
Yes, you can donate any amount to become a member of our giving circle and to join in our activities! We also appreciate the generosity of supporters who simply want make a one-time donation. Please see our page on joining for information on how to donate.
Can I donate my $250 in installments?
Yes, we can accept quarterly payments. Just let us know that you’ve decided to do this.
Is there a deadline to join the giving circle?
There is no deadline. If you join our circle before the fall, you can participate in this year’s grantee selection process!
Are giving circle members eligible to submit a proposal from their own nonprofit organization?
Yes, except if your organization is being voted on, you will sit out on that voting round to avoid a conflict of interest.
Will the giving circle be making grants to one or more than one organization each year?
The number and size of the grant awards will be based on the number of applicants and the size of the funding resources in each year.
Will the giving circle place restrictions on how grantee organizations can use the grant?
We are currently offering unrestricted grants.
Is the Cherry Blossom Giving Circle an AAPIP initiative?
The Cherry Blossom Giving Circle is a member of the Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) National Giving Circle Network and receives matching grants to increase support to its recipient community organizations. However, members of the giving circle do not need to be members of the local AAPIP chapter or vice versa.
Is the Cherry Blossom Giving Circle a nonprofit organization?
The Cherry Blossom Giving Circle is a donor-advised fund of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region. CFNCR staff manages the day-to-day administrative activities, including receiving, acknowledging, and holding of all funds. In return, the giving circle pays a small administrative fee to CFNCR.
